1960's Black velvet clutch

Rachel ChurchComment

Continuing on my theme of the week,  I'll be introducing this lovely black velvet clutch today.  It was made in the 1960's by a company called Dover.  The company was founded in the 1940's and was very popular up until the 1960's.  The slogan that I found on many of their advertisements was "DOVER; where high style meets low price." According to a family member of the Dover firm, "The "Dova" brand was the higher priced brand name of Dover Handbag that also became popular.

This beautiful bag is another large clutch.  It's 13 inches long and 6.5 inches tall, so it's not a tiny clutch that only fits a lip gloss and credit card.  I love the large clutches because they're just more practical for the everyday women.  I like to have my makeup, wallet, cell phone, sun glasses, etc, etc... you get the idea.  That can be tough with a dainty purse!  It has gold fixtures and a gold chain that can be used as a handle or can be tucked into the purse.  There is also a large pocket on the outside of the bag for extra storage.  Check this piece out today in the shop
